WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU VISIT

What the church looks like

FBC is a Historic Church in the heart of Midtown. Our History is tied to the city, and we hold our history in high regard. While the church is 170 years old, the current sanctuary was built in the 1920s. It’s full of original stained glass and many of its original fixtures have remained in place. But, the 90+ year-old building hasn’t stopped this church from progressing. From a live band to concert-style lighting, we mix the traditional with modern.

Who you’ll see

You’ll find a diverse group of individuals from all walks of life and all races. We enjoy learning from others who have different jobs, different nationalities, and different perspectives. And we celebrate all of our sisters and brothers whether they are straight or LGBT+.

What we'll be wearing

From shorts and sandals to dresses and suits, what people wear to the Collective is equally diverse. It’s not about what you wear. We just want to see you and meet you.

What the service is like

The Collective – our 10:30 a.m. service – is a time where we come together and worship with music, preaching, and prayer. Our music ranges from traditional hymns and choruses to reinventions of those songs with a jazz and blues spin.

Do we embarrass our guests?

No. We want you to feel welcome because you are. Everyone is. We don’t embarrass our guests. We don’t ask them to introduce themselves. But, we do welcome you and everyone – it’s how we begin every service.

Here is Our Welcome:

If you’ve ever mourned and needed comfort, then this church is for you.

(Members say: “You are welcome here.”)

If you’re tired and in need of a break, this church is for you.

(Members say: "You are welcome here.")

To those who desire to learn from our cultural differences, you will find friends here.

(Members say: “You are welcome here.”)

For anyone who has ever felt unwelcome, you now belong here. This church is for you.

(Members say: “You are welcome here.”)

If you’ve fallen short of your purpose and are in need of a loving Savior, this church opens its doors, its heart, and in the name of Jesus we all say boldly and proudly:

(Everyone says: “Diversity is our strength.”)
